Create your own artwork inspired by our permanent collection or our temporary exhibition. Wednesdays and sundays, the workshop will last 1h after a 30 minutes - visit.

On wednesdays, the workshop will start at 3:00 p.m.

Montmartre's Windmills

Plunge into the little winding streets of Montmartre and discover its famous windmills.

During the tour, the children will discover the village of Montmartre as it once was, covered with vineyards and windmills. They will learn about the different uses for these windmills and how their role evolved during the golden age. During the workshop, the children will have fun making their own mini windmills.

Landscapes & Views

Discover the rich artistic heritage of Montmartre and the artists that had their studios in the Museum !

The children will study the fauve artist Raoul Dufy in particular and his fascination for colour. Inspired by his series of paintings painting the view from his window, they will paint their own scenes of the Museum.

Showtime !

Discover the world of show business at the Musée de Montmartre: the stars of the circus, theatre, cabarets, balls!

During this workshop, the children will visit the permanent collections of the Museum, exploring paintings, photographs and documents that recount the nightlife of Montmartre and its legendary entertainment venues such as the Chat Noir, the Lapin Agile, the Moulin de la Galette and the Moulin Rouge. They will then create a backdrop for a show with their own puppets or canacan dancers. They could even customize the costumes of their characters, why not a daring dress for a star of the Moulin Rouge in tissue paper?

Autumn Nature

Nature is a fascinating and unlimited source of inspiration for artists.

Changing constantly day after day, it offers a infinate number of patterns, perspectives and shades… During this workshop, the children will study nature and will try several painting techniques such as leaf printing and rapid brushstrokes to create their first large Impressionist work.

Painting Outside

Draw and paint in the shade of the Renoir Gardens !

Make the most of those warm summer days to learn to draw and paint outside like the artists who lived and worked at the Musée de Montmartre : Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo et André Utter. Take inspiration from the works of art painted in these very gardens to create your own masterpieces !

Cats

The great grandchildren of Steinlen's cats often visit the Renoir gardens...

...and we would like them to feel welcome and safe.

Why don't you come and decorate a home for them so that they can be warm and dry this winter? Taking inspiration from Steinlen's cats, the children will design their own cats on cardboard to stick onto their little shelter.

To celebrate the arrival of Spring,

Plunge into Renoir's world and the Museum gardens that inspired him!

The children will discover Impressionist techniques and create their own painting taking inspiration from the Museum landscape and their own imagination.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir created numerous masterpieces in the gardens of 12 rue Cortot, will the children be as inventive?

Celebrate Easter at the Musée de Montmartre!

1. Easter animals

After a short tour of the Museum, the children will create rabbits, lambs, chicks or other symbols using different materials including feathers, sequins and cotton wool...

2. Decopatch eggs

After a short tour of the Museum, the children will take inspiration from the gardens and Museum collections to decorate eggs using different artistic techniques such as painting and decopatch.

Harvest Festival

Have fun and learn about the vineyards!

For the festival of the wine harvest, bring your children to discover and celebrate Montmartre's last vineyard! During this workshop, they will learn about the history of Montmartre's vineyards and their importance. they will then create their own vine using different fun techniques.

Get into the Christmas spirit with this special "end of year celebrations" workshop.

Paint Montmartre like Maurice Utrillo !

In this workshop, the children will discover the life of the famous painter Maurice Utrillo, known for his troubled character and unforgettable views of Montmartre. The children will create greetings cards that represent Montmartre in his style. They will test diverse materials to make works, 'more real than nature'.

Le cinéma et Montmartre

Making a scene!

In this workshop, the children will discover the new temporary exhibition “Montmartre and the cinema” to learn about the streets and legendary venues of the hill that inspired so many films. They will become film directors, imagining together a scenario and characters, to then create their own story-boards. They can even act in their films in the museum gardens.

Mimics and masks at the cinema

Masks make their entrance at the Museum of Montmartre!

During a tour of the exhibition, “Montmartre, a film set”, the children will study the facial expressions of the actors in the film extracts. Facial expressions have played an important role in acting from Greek and Roman theatre to modern day modern films, especially silent movies. The children will take inspiration from the exhibition to create masks that represent the protagonist of their favourite film or even invent their own expressive characters.

Before the cinema...

What was there before the cinema?

The cinema is only about 120 years old. Before its invention, other techniques of projection and illusion existed to entertain, whether in the home or at the theatre. How did they animate an image? How did they create movement from static images? In this workshop, the children will discover the temporary exhibition, “Montmartre, a film set”, and its variety of film extracts will inspire them to investigate and create one of cinema’s ancestors: the magic lantern, zoetrope, flip-book…
